Phonics dominoes from Fun Fonix: You can make a set of dominoes for pair or group classroom activities. Dominoes is a fun phonics game that allows for a lot of practice reading and solidifying phonics rules.

Make Phonics Dominoes!

How to use dominoes as a phonics activity:

Enter the phonics rules that you would like to practice, 'ch' 'sh' 'th' ... and/or enter words 'chip' 'shop' 'math' ... You can also make dominoes with images from Fun Fonix. Students can match the rules-rules, rules-words, words-words, word-image, image-rule, for example.

When a student places a domino on the table, the student will say the reading aloud for a rule, read a word, or say the word for the image. So, with each turn they are reviewing the options on the board, looking at the dominoes they have, and verbalizing their play. There is a lot of practice and review in this phonics game.

How to play dominoes:

Dominoes is a classic tile-based game that can be played with 2-4 players using a standard double-six set of 28 dominoes. Each player draws a set number of tiles, usually seven for 2 players and five for 3-4 players, while the rest remain face down in a draw pile (called the boneyard.) The player with the highest double (such as 6|6) starts the game by placing it on the table. Players then take turns adding a tile that matches one of the open ends of the domino chain. If a player cannot make a move, they must either simply pass or draw from the boneyard until they can play. The round ends when a player places all their tiles or when no moves remain, at which point the player with the fewest pips (dots) left wins. Scoring is based on the sum of opponents' remaining pips, and the game is usually played again and again to a target score like 100 or 150 points.

Printing:

Once your dominoes have been generated, there is a menu at the top that you can use to 'print' the page. It should open the print dialog box or print preview and you can select your options from there.

Printing on a mobile device: You may not get the print menu at the top. However, you should be able to print the dominoes just as you would print any page off the Internet.

If you are experiencing any troubles with the maker, please send me an email and I will do my best to help. There is a contact link at the bottom of every page.
